6 Days of Creation – How to get the order right

Filed under: Design Technology — Editor @ 8:59 am

This post was produced in an attempt to show Sur  at pkab the principles behind the one word per branch and the other 7 golden rules of Mind Mapping.

I have tried to make your 6 days of creation fit the rules of one word per branch. I have to say I like it as an idea to get people really thinking about mapping and it does mean that they have to use links (which many people don’t).

There are 7 golden rules of Mind Mapping as described by Tony Buzan in his books. If these are followed then the whole map will become far more user friendly and far more powerful. However I agree at times it is difficult to get one word per branch!

The 7 rules are:

1. Central Image/Text

2. Branches organic in shape (which is why MindJet does not work correctly for Mind Mapping)

3. Colour

4. Branch Images

5. Write ON the line so the word is connected and the eye flows along the branch

6. Landscape layout

7. Connect branches

I have not added images as this was just to show you what I meant.

The additional two maps are how I have ‘pushed’ the map a bit further to show how the same information can be rearranged to give a less complex map. I find that this can often be done after a short period of reflection when Mind Mapping.

Getting the order right to allow continued additions to the map is a challenge. This were planning, identification of the key words and practise are essential.

  1. Dear Tim,

That is nice idea to put an aggregation or induction of several smaller branches into thicker branch. Thanks for pointing me out this. I would like to have your permission to post your imindmap and 7 golden rules of Mind Mapping at my blog http://pkab.wordpress.com

    cheers,

  4. Dear Tim,

Please add Land Animals at the sixth day at the first mindmap.
At second and third mind map putting land animals is no problem, but the order of creation is blur there.

What happen if we try to put a thing with 2 or more words such as: “the old electric oven always burns badly” in the mind map?

I am collecting (now 1.040+) mind mapping related articles at my blog and always put URL/ source where I get the articles.

    Cheers,
    Sur
