Equipment and Materials for Mind Mapping

Hand drawn Mind Maps have a very different feel to those produced digitally. I get a great deal of pleasure out of producing a hand drawn Mind Map.

I have been asking fellow mappers which pieces of equipment or materials make Mind Mapping by hand such a creative and therapeutic process.

Hi Tim,

It totally depends on where I am and how much time I have. When travelling I always carry a what we call ‘dummy book’ A6 size with me. Dummy books were formerly misprints (books with empty pages). Now they sell them this way with hardcover because people wanted them. On the road I normally use only one color (yes, not the traditional kind of mind mapper style :))

I also have dummy books on A4 format. I use these when working or at home. Here I use many colors.

The best thing about these books is:
1. hardcover
2. they keep all my mindmaps in one place

What I do is I create no mindmaps on the first few pages. These become my table of content.

Hi Tim, Thanks for mentioning these tools. Do you know why people use these specific tools? Why not other tools, why from these brands?

These are tools I use and that I like to use. Others will have different opinions and ideas.
